Yoooooo Gabba Gabba!

If you have a kid between the ages of 1 and 5, chances are you are familiar with the gloriously trippy Yo Gabba Gabba show.  We are big fans in our house.  The music is great and it gets my kids up and dancing.  Monkey is especially enamored of it.  While Muno is his favorite character, who wouldn't love the fabulous DJ Lance Rock?

So there I was today perusing the yarn at my favorite LYS and what do I find?  ORANGE EYELASH YARN!  Hooray!  I immediately snatched it up, along with some coordinating cotton, and rushed home to replicate DJ Lance's signature style.  Monkey was thrilled with the results, and so am I!

It is a very simple hat pattern, worked with double strand (1 of the eyelash yarn and one of the cotton worsted weight).  I used a K 6.5mm hook, but that can be adjusted for size and tension.

Start with a magic ring
Rnd 1) 12 sc into ring
Rnd 2) ch 2 (counts as first dc here and throughout) dc into same st, 2 dc into each st around, join with ss into first dc
Rnd 3) ch 2, dc into same st, *dc in next st, 2 dc in next st, repeat from *, join
Rnd 4) ch 2, dc into same st, dc in next 2 st, * 2 dc in next st, dc in next 2 sts, repeat from * around. Join.
Rnd 5) ch 2, dc into each st around, join.
repeat Rnd 5 until hat is desired length.  Finish off and weave in ends.

I cut stars out of white and dark yellow felt and stitched them on to finish the look.  Put on your toddler and get your YGG groove going!
